Alberto Cairo teaches visualization and infographics at the School of Communication of the University of Miami. Starting in the Summer of 2015, he will be the Knight Chair in Visual Journalism at UM, where he's also director of the Visualization Program at the Center for Computational Science. He is the author of the book 'The Functional Art: An Introduction to Information Graphics and Visualization.' He has been graphics director at several news publications in Spain and Brazil, and has consulted and taught in more than twenty countries.
