A recent Pew Research report found that Americans are increasingly getting more news from social media. The report revealed that more than 62 percent said they get news on social media, which is about a 13 percent increase since 2012.
This shift to getting content from social platform has major implications for how media measure their audience reach, engagement and impact.
In our next #MetricShift chat, we will discuss what metrics matter in the ever-growing consumption of news across social media.
The chat, which you can find by searching for #MetricShift on Twitter, will be moderated by Tim Cigelske, associate metrics section editor for MediaShift. Guests will include Elana Zak, former Wall Street Journal and STAT social media editor; Luis Gomez, engagement editor at the San Diego Union-Tribune; Rosalee MacKinnon, Communications Associate at Yik Yak; Jason DeRusha, WCCO-TV Morning News Anchor; Anthony Quintano, engagement editor at Honolulu Civil Beat; Briana Milligan of ActionSprout; and Jason Alcorn, MetricShift editor.
