There are hundreds of ways to look at your content in terms of metrics. But more is not always better. And in the case of collecting metrics to analyze your content, more can leave you frustrated and confused. With this special series, we’re tackling the question of which metrics really matter, and which are just adding to the data noise.

In our #MetricShift chat on Friday, Feb. 26, starting at 1 p.m. ET / 12 p.m CT / 10 a.m. PT, we’ll talk about how to identify organizational goals, find metrics that speak to those goals and avoid the ever-present lure of the “vanity metrics.”

The chat, which you can find by searching for #MetricShift on Twitter, will be moderated by Tim Cigelske, associate editor of metrics at MediaShift and director of social media at Marquette University. Guests will include Celeste LeCompte of ProPublica and Anjanette Delgado of Gannett.
