    September 20, 2016

When newsrooms invest time and resources into investigative reporting, it’s with the expectation that the payoff will matter.

So how should we measure the success of investigative reporting?

The next #MetricShift chat will dive into the metrics of the kind of in-depth reporting that can’t be captured by counting up likes and page views. The chat will take place at 10 a.m. PST/noon central/1 p.m. EST on Friday, September 23.

The chat, which you can find by searching for #MetricShift on Twitter, will be moderated by Tim Cigelske, associate metrics section editor for MediaShift. Special guests will include Lindsay Green-Barber, director of strategic research at Reveal and the Center for Investigative Reporting, Kevin Davis, founder & principal consultant at KLJD Consulting and Sr. Fellow at the ; Blair Hickman, previously audience editor for the Marshall Project and community editor for ProPublica; Simon Galperin, co-founder of Erin Richards, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel education reporter and 2015-2016 Spencer Fellow; and Jason Alcorn, MetricShift editor.
