The Digital Book World E-Book Best-Seller list tracks e-book sales ranking and price data across six major e-book retailers with the goal of providing the most accurate picture of which e-books are most often purchased by consumers and at what price point. The full methodology is available here.

This week’s DBW e-book best-seller list, still led by the Robert Galbraith (J. K. Rowling) title “The Cuckoo’s Calling,” saw a lift in the average title price.

The average price of a best-selling e-book is $8.23. That’s a notable change from previous weeks, when prices were consistently in the $7.00 to $8.00 range.

So are e-book best-seller prices going up before they go down at the end of the year, as Jeremy Greenfield, writing for DBW’s Expert Publishing Blog, surmised last week?

While we await that answer, we do know that Penguin Random House e-books continue to rank well. Twelve titles from that publisher have spots in the top 25. And, over half of the titles on the $10 and above list as well as on the $8.00 – $9.99 list come from PRH. At the same time, self-published titles are fading from view.

    E-book best-sellers from the week ending 8/11:
