#MetricShift Chat: Measuring Email Newsletters

“Newsletters are, improbably, in vogue,” writes Clive Thompson in a new WIRED article.

Thompson cites as examples the growing 2,000 new TinyLetter users each month, the 400,000 subscribers to Lena Dunham’s Lenny LettertheSkimm‘s 1.5 million readers and Ben Thompson’s monetized Stratechery newsletter.

As we’ve covered on MediaShift, email newsletters have become — or continues to be — an important tool for audience engagement despite the proliferation of social media.

In our next #MetricShift chat, we will discuss how newsrooms or in some cases writers and reporters on their own are using, measuring and improving their email newsletters. Join the chat on Friday, May 27, starting at 1 p.m. ET / 12 p.m CT / 10 a.m. PT.
