When newsrooms invest time and resources into investigative reporting, it’s with the expectation that the payoff will matter.
So how should we measure the success of investigative reporting?
The next #MetricShift chat will dive into the metrics of the kind of in-depth reporting that can’t be captured by counting up likes and page views. The chat will take place at 10 a.m. PST/noon central/1 p.m. EST on Friday, September 23.
The chat, which you can find by searching for #MetricShift on Twitter, will be moderated by Tim Cigelske, associate metrics section editor for MediaShift. Special guests will include Lindsay Green-Barber, director of strategic research at Reveal and the Center for Investigative Reporting, Kevin Davis, founder & principal consultant at KLJD Consulting and Sr. Fellow at the Media Impact Project; Blair Hickman, previously audience editor for the Marshall Project and community editor for ProPublica; Simon Galperin, co-founder of Muckgers; Erin Richards, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel education reporter and 2015-2016 Spencer Fellow; and Jason Alcorn, MetricShift editor.
