Here at #EdShift, we’ve done a number of chats about both student media and diversity and inclusivity. But on Tuesday, Aug. 23, we’re bringing those two topics together for a chat about building diversity and developing inclusivity in student media. It’s a critical time to explore how college newsrooms can better reflect the diversity of their campuses, cover their campus communities more effectively and use social media and digital platforms to reach broader audiences.

The chat, which you can find by searching for the #EdShift Twitter hashtag, will start at 1 p.m. Eastern time/Noon Central/10 a.m. Pacific on Tuesday.

Rachele Kanigel of San Francisco State University, Candace Baltz of Oregon State University and Jackie Alexander of Clemson University will join the chat to talk about the diversity and inclusion summit for college journalists the College Media Association is sponsoring Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.

Other guests will include Sue Robinson of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Kenna Griffin of Oklahoma City University, Kim Fox of American University in Cairo, Jessica Retis of California State University, Northridge and Aliya Iftikhar, former editor of the Badger Herald student newspaper. The chat will be hosted by Stacy Forster of UW-Madison.

Here is a Storify of the conversation:
