Futures Lab Update #110: Gathering Visual Content via Stringr and YuVue

This week we explore two tools that help newsrooms get photos and video from outside contributors.

PART 1: Stringr

Having a small staff often limits the amount of video a news operation can gather, but Stringr provides a digital marketplace where producers or editors can request and download specific footage from a network of contributors. Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Lindsay Stewart tells us how the system could help newsrooms broaden their coverage.

YuVue offers a platform to locate and secure rights to visuals posted by social media users, while enabling the people who created the content to get paid. We learn how it works from Chief Executive Officer William Fisher.
