APRIL 2015 DEADLINES

Chancellor Award
Columbia Journalism School
The John Chancellor Award, founded in 1995, is presented each year to a reporter with courage and integrity for cumulative professional accomplishments. The prize honors the legacy of pioneering televion correspondent and longtime NBC News anchor John Chancellor.
Deadline: April 17, 2015

Hearst Journalism Awards Program
Hearst Foundation
The program awards scholarships to students for outstanding performance in college-level journalism, with matching grants to the students’ schools. Deadlines vary according to the competitions.

Jacque I. Minnotte Health Reporting Fellowship
This fellowship recognizes excellence in health or medical television and radio reporting. In addition to the $2,000 award, winners of the Jacque I. Minnotte Health Reporting Fellowship are invited to attend the Excellence in Journalism conference.
Deadline: April 30, 2015

Michele Clark Fellowship
This fellowship is awarded to a young, promising minority professional in television or radio news. In addition to the $1,000 award, winners of the Michele Clark Fellowships are invited to attend the Excellence in Journalism conference.

N.S. Bienstock Fellowship
This fellowship is awarded to a young, promising minority professional in television or radio news. In addition to the $1,000 award, winners of the Michele Clark Fellowships are invited to attend the Excellence in Journalism conference.

The Rosalynn Carter Fellowships for Mental Health Journalism
Atlanta, GA
The one-year fellowship is offered to six journalists and is designed to enhance public understanding of mental health issues and combat stigma and discrimination against people with mental illness.

Vada and Col. Barney Oldfield National Security Reporting Fellowship
This fellowship is awarded to a reporter or producer in radio or television news engaged covering national defense and security. In addition to the $1,000 award, winners are invited to attend the Excellence in Journalism conference.

Anthony Shadid Award for Journalism Ethics
University of Wisconsin-Madison Center for Journalism Ethics
One journalism or team will be recognized for reporting on a story or series with ethical excellence — by seeking and reporting truth, minimizing harm, acting independently, and remaining accountable.

APME Journalism Excellence Awards
Associated Press Media Editors
The awards honor superior journalism and innovation among newspapers, radio, televise band online news sites across the United States and Canada.

ICFJ Awards
International Center for Journalists
The ICFJ has various awards, including a news innovation award, which promotes the free flow of news and the open exchange of ideas, and an award for general excellence in journalism.

I.F. Stone Awards
The Investigative Fund
Winners of the I.F. Stone Award will receive funding to cover the reporting costs of a project proposal, up to a maximum of $10,000; editorial guidance from Investigative Fund editors; access to such subscription services as Nexis and Accurint; and assistance with placement of the investigation in a print, online or broadcast outlet.

Online Journalism Awards
Online Journalism Association
The Online Journalism Awards (OJAs) was launched in May 2000 to honor excellence in digital journalism around the world. The 2015 OJAs entry period will open in May and close mid-June.

United Nations/Ranan Lurie Political Cartoon Awards
The United Nations/Ranan Lurie
The awards are granted for the best political cartoons reflecting the spirit and the principles of the United Nations.
