How Much Would You Pay for iPad News Apps?

So you’ve plopped down $499 (or more) for a shiny new iPad from Apple. You’ve connected iTunes to the device and now you’ve visited the App Store. But now comes the question: How much more will you pay for news apps? Some of them are free, like the USA Today app, while some offer limited selection like the New York Times app, eventually charging you for the app or for regular content updates (e.g. the Time magazine app). So how much would you shell out for news apps? You can answer the poll below or give a more detailed answer in comments. And if you are sick of reading about the iPad, let us know that too!

  • Ironically, the survey doesn't work on my iPad. What I'd pay depends on the news source and whether I can get that news elsewhere. I'm not averse to paying, but what I'd like to see are flexible payment models.

  • Dave,
That's funny you can't see the survey on your iPad, but not surprising... I agree with you. More flexible payment models make a lot of sense, instead of pricey magazine subscriptions or all free. There has to be more creative micropayment models on the iPad too.

  • I like the idea of micropayments where I can for a specific article.

I bought an Ipad. It's totally overrated; less functional than a computer and too big for my pocket. Now I need to buy an Ipad man-purse.
