Truth in Tweets at SXSW

Ever fear that you’re missing out? Or should I say: ever suffer from FOMO? Such emotions are often magnified by the power of social media. At this year’s SXSW, PBS Digital Studios’ “Everything But the News” examined this trend with a hard-hitting profile on a new gadget that allows one to read others’ tweets. The images of conference-goers hunched over phones in a zombie-like state should provide a stark contrast to the otherwise enthusiastic messaging coming out of Austin. Steve Goldbloom is a writer, producer, and performer best known for creating and starring in the PBS comedy series Everything But the News (2014). The mockumentary show lampoons both startup culture in the Bay Area and public broadcasting. Steve is also the PBS NewsHour’s Special Correspondent in California, covering the startup space for the flagship news broadcast. Steve is a 1987 alumnus of Dalhousie Pre-School in Nova Scotia, where he was diagnosed with mild dyslexia. A dual citizen of Canada and the U.S., Steve currently lives in Los Angeles.
