#EdShift Chat: Teaching Entrepreneurship in Journalism Schools

There was a time when journalism students were trained for a job at a local newspaper, radio or TV station or magazine. Now, it’s just as important for students to know how to start their own digital business, their own startup. But that can be difficult, especially at schools that are set in their ways. Following our Special Series: Teaching Tomorrow’s Entrepreneurs, Friday’s #EdShift chat covered the elements of an entrepreneurial mindset and how it can find a place in assignments and courses. The chat was moderated as usual by MediaShift’s Education Curator Katy Culver, with special guests Dan Gillmor of ASU, Michelle Ferrier of Ohio University, Jan Schaffer of J-Lab and Mark E. Johnson at University of Georgia. Here’s a Storify of the best moments from that chat. Catch future #EdShift chats on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET.
