MetricShift Editor / Curator

MediaShift is looking for a MetricShift Editor / Curator who will help run our MetricShift section, which covers metrics, analytics and measuring impact in journalism, documentaries and other media.

The Editor is responsible for bringing in new contributors, writing stories, and sparking discussions online and during in-person events. The main responsibility includes editing and writing for the MetricShift section, making sure we have at least three stories posted per week. Other responsibilities include overseeing our Reader Advisory Board and the MetricShift Associate Editor; doing a weekly “Metric of the Week” segment on our weekly podcast, and putting together the weekly Media Metrics Roundup email newsletter. The Editor should also help to spark online conversations on our Facebook group and elsewhere, and writing up our quarterly grant reports.

This is a contract job that you can do from your own home or office.

You will also have an Associate Editor to help with the chats, online community and social media promotions.

Hours: About 60 hours per month

Job Requirements

> 3 years of experience working with metrics, analytics and data in media
> Excellent curation, communication, writing and community-building skills
> Knowledge of the state of current metrics and analytics platforms and issues around them for journalists and media outlets.
> Knowledge of and contacts at various analytics firms, startups and media foundations with an interest in metrics and measuring impact
> Experience building and sparking discussions on social media
