Managing Editor
MediaShift is looking for a Managing Editor who oversees all content posted on MediaShift, including assigning, editing and posting stories. Responsibilities also include copy-editing all stories, including those on our EducationShift and MetricShift sections; managing freelancers and contributors; managing partnerships with publications with which we have cross-posting agreements; copy editing all social media promos and email newsletters; and curating and editing occasional Special Series. The job also includes managing the Associate Editor and Social Media Editor.
This is a contract job that you can do from your own home or office. There is a chance to take on more work for more pay in the future.
Hours: About 60 hours per month.
Job Requirements
> 4 years of experience working with online media in an editorial role managing others.
> Knowledge of the media business, especially new forms of journalism and digital media.
> Experience with publishing platforms, particularly WordPress, MailChimp and Buffer.
> Contacts of various freelance writers and contributors who understand the digital media realm.
> A commitment to working as a full-time freelancer as this role is impossible to fulfill alongside a full-time job.
