One trend the novel’s success fits right into, though, is the clear dominance its publisher Penguin Random House has enjoyed on the E-book Best-Seller List for many months. There are fourteen of the publisher’s titles on this week’s list, two down from last week.
Of the remaining eleven, five titles are published by Simon & Schuster, Macmillan and Hachette, the three Big Five publishers back operating under a version of the agency pricing model.
However, only two of those—”The Nightingale” (Macmillan, $12.99) and “All the Light We Cannot See” (Simon & Schuster, $11.99)—are listed on Amazon as having prices set by their publishers.
The average price of a best-selling e-book drops more than a dollar this week as pricier e-books retreat. That figure is now $6.47, versus last week’s $7.48.
