This Storify follows an Oct. 30 event at the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute at the Missouri School of Journalism. In celebration of the latest update to Eric Newton’s Searchlights and Sunglasses, RJI highlighted positive efforts and innovations during its “Green Shoots in Journalism Education” program. Participants in person and via livestream heard from three deans, five professors and others who have been trying out new ideas and experimenting in journalism programs. The event proved a high-energy opportunity to highlight what is going right and how we all can emulate these successes. Recordings of the sessions also are available online.
