What a difference a week makes.

Not for Gillian Flynn’s “Gone Girl,” which enters its fifth week at the top of the E-book Best-Seller List, but for the average price of a best-selling e-book, which drops from $8.39 last week down to $6.91, after several weeks when higher-priced e-books had performed remarkably well.

This week also finds Penelope Ward’s self-published “Stepbrother Dearest” joined by a second self-published title, “Ruin: Part 1,” by Deborah Bladon, which retails for $0.99.

As the Ebola crisis remains in the news, Richard Preston’s best-selling 1995 title “The Hot Zone” also makes an appearance on this week’s list.

  1. “Gone Girl: A Novel,” Gillian Flynn, Penguin Random House, $4.99
  2. “Leaving Time: A Novel,” Jody Picoult, Penguin Random House, $4.99
