Last week we noted that twelve, or just under half, of the top-25 best-selling e-books were affiliated with a movie or TV adaptation. That share rises this week to thirteen, with the addition of “The Best of Me” by Nicholas Sparks, a movie adaptation of which is on track for an October 17 release. (“The Three Roosevelts” is not in fact the book on which the Ken Burns-produced PBS film is based, but it seems likely the Grove/Atlantic title is getting a boost from it.)
Higher-priced e-books fare well on this week’s rankings, with “Personal” by Lee Child climbing an additional spot despite its $10.99 price tag. Three additional titles priced above the $10-mark remain within the top ten–the same number as last week.
Their performance, plus the new appearance of an $11.99 John Grisham novel, “Gray Mountain,” contribute to raising the average price of a best-selling e-book this week to $7.57, up $0.31 from last week’s $7.26.
