It’s weeks like this last one where the publishing industry can really see the size and depth of Penguin Random House, the largest publisher in the world, brought together last year by the merger of what had previously been the two largest publishers in the world.

This week on the Digital Book World E-book Bestseller list, PRH had 14 of the 25 titles, or 56 percent of all bestsellers last week.

Leading the way is John Green’s hit “The Fault in Our Stars,” which is benefiting from strong performance by the film of the same name. Sitting at No. 2 on the bestseller list is Diana Gabaldon’s “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood,” the latest novel in her popular Outlander series.

PRH holds three of the top five spots and five of the top ten spots on the list. There are no publishers on the list this week that aren’t “big five.”

Average E-book Price Falls

The average price of a bestselling e-book fell this week to $7.51 from $8.17 last week. The $19.99 edition of all five Game of Thrones e-books fell off the list, accounting for much of the drop.
