The prices of other titles went down as well, notably “Unlucky 13” by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro, which was selling for $12.74 and is now $8.99; and “The Target” by David Baldacci, which was also $12.74 and is now also $8.99.
Hachette e-books were selling at much higher prices last week, possibly due to Hachette’s current battle with Amazon over its next distribution contract.
The average price of a bestselling e-book has gone up this week to $7.45 from $6.88 last week, mostly due to a $19.99 e-book set of the five “Game of Thrones” titles by George R.R. Martin from Penguin Random House. If we looked at that title as five books, the average price of a bestselling e-book this week would be just about $7.00.
Meanwhile, Amazon Publishing has another hit on its hands. For the second week in a row, “Moving Day” by Jonathan Stone is No. 2 on the list.
