Digital Book World’s Top 10 E-book Bestsellers; Week Ending 2-8-14

The Digital Book World E-Book Best-Seller list tracks e-book sales ranking and price data across six major e-book retailers with the goal of providing the most accurate picture of which e-books are most often purchased by consumers and at what price point. The full methodology is available here.

Following up on its first-ever week with a No. 1 e-book best-seller, Amazon Publishing again made a splash on the Digital Book World E-book Best-Seller list.

The upstart publisher had four titles on the list with “Long Knives” by Charles Rosenberg leading the pack at No. 2 — new to the list at $4.99. In fact, the company didn’t have any repeat performers hit the list, which suggests that Amazon Publishing is generating best-sellers with pricing and other promotions that may be short-lived.

Big publishers continue to dominate the list outside of Amazon’s successes. Only two self-published titles appear on this week’s list. Last year at this time, there were also few self-published ebook best-sellers on the list. In the spring, self-published titles took off, with several hitting No. 1.

Meanwhile, ebook best-seller prices are continuing to hold steady. This week’s average is $6.02, down slightly from last week.

E-book best-sellers from the week ending 2/8:

1. “Divergent” (Divergent Series), Veronica Roth, HarperCollins, $4.88

2. “Long Knives”, Charles Rosenberg, Amazon, $4.99

3. “The Fault in Our Stars”, John Green, Penguin Random House, $7.19

4. “The Goldfinch”, Donna Tartt, Hachette, $7.50

5. “Allegiant” (Divergent Series), Veronica Roth, HarperCollins, $6.99

6. “Insurgent” (Divergent Series), Veronica Roth, HarperCollins, $6.99

7. “Sycamore Row”, John Grisham, Penguin Random House, $6.49

8. “The Husband’s Secret”, Liane Moriarty, Penguin Random House, $5.99

9. “The Rented Mule”, Bobby Cole, Amazon, $4.99

10. “Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10”, Marcus Luttrell and Patrick Robinson, Hachette, $3.99
