Media and Diversity Breakfast

Location: New York City

Gotham Media Ventures present “Burying the Lede: Race, Gender, and Religion in the Media.” This free event features Adaora Udoji, the former host of NPR’s The Takeaway, and Sree Sreenivasan, a professor of digital media at Columbia Journalism School. The will discuss whether diversity has taken hold in the newsroom and in publishing ed-board meetings? How do diverse editors, writers, and on-air hosts impact news decisions behind closed doors? What is it like for diverse journalists to cover racism, the Pope, the “mosque” story, genital mutilation, and other hot-button issues that may affect them in a personal way? This breakfast event promises to be a stimulating look at an emotional issue that drives to the heart of how we get news and information.
